The Mausoleum stands along the ancient via Flaminia, near the current Viale Tor di Quinto and can be dated between the 1st and 2nd centuries. A.D., in full imperial age.
The monument, which originally consisted of two identical drums, placed on a high podium, built in cement and covered in marble, was excavated by the archaeologist Giacomo Boni in 1875. The scholar recovered much of the marble coating decorated with the original frieze in garlands with crowning stones that was reassembled for the occasion.
Today only one of the two cylindrical artifacts is visible on the site because the other was later purchased by Baron Blanc and placed inside the park of Villa Blanc near via Nomentana.
